Whether you're new to sound healing or simply curious about how it all works, Jarin’s story is a beautiful entry point into the power of frequency, intention, and care.

Q: Can you share a bit about your journey — what led you to sound healing and yoga?

I have always gravitated to the health and wellness space, and have been exploring yoga and other mindfulness practices since adolescence. But over the last few years, it became very clear that I needed to listen to the inner whispering and work more intimately with people and frequencies. I really enjoy holding loving space for others to explore their own energy and wisdom.

Q: What inspired you to specialize in tuning fork therapy (Acutonics), and how does it work?

I was drawn to purchasing a tuning fork one day, and after a short time experimenting with it, I knew that this was going to be my modality. While studying Acutonics in Mexico with Lynn Wedekind, a senior faculty member of the Acutonics School of Integrative Medicine, I was experiencing the profound effects of these tools daily and realized the great medicine that they help us activate.

Acutonics is a system of vibrational sound therapy rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, where tuning forks (calibrated at different frequencies) are methodically placed on acupoints points on the body to release pain and tension, ease emotional distress, and cultivate overall mind-body connection in people and animals! These methods are supported by over 20 years of documented clinical case studies that demonstrate the positive effects of Sound Therapy.

Q: For those new to sound healing, how would you describe its benefits?

Everything in and around us is vibrating. The frequency is the rate at which these particles are vibrating. The frequencies that we are exposed to, in addition to emotions, experiences, illness, etc., affect our own vibration which in turn, affects the functioning of our being. We are also mostly made of water, which is an incredible conductor of sound, so we are quite impressionable when it comes to our physical bodies being “re-tuned”.

Sound frequency therapy has powerful physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual benefits. The medical and modern science community is currently researching and using a variety of sound and light frequencies to treat ailments of all sorts including pain management, wound healing and skin regeneration, anti-inflammatory uses, emotional distress, the health of premature infants, and so much more!

Q: What can someone expect during one of your sound baths?

During a sound bath you can expect to rest in shavasana (corpse pose) with a pillow, blanket, and eye mask (so cozy!) and let your body soak in the thoughtfully-chosen frequencies of many different instruments. I usually settle people in with some guided meditation and breath before the sound exposure. Your experience can be different each time you receive sound, depending on what your current frequency is, meaning, what you have been experiencing lately. The vibration of your body starts to sympathetically resonate with the frequency of the instrument and it helps to shake up stagnant energy. Brainwave entrainment can also occur, which can take your brain into more relaxed states where creativity, problem solving, and intuition are more active.

Q: How do your private tuning fork sessions differ from your group sound baths?

The main difference is that private sessions are more tailored to the individual and what they need on a physical, emotional, and spirit level. In a group sound bath there is a general relaxing protocol that I follow, and I usually treat at least one acupoint with the tuning forks on each person.

In a private tuning fork session, the majority of the appointment is tuning fork energy work directly on the body, with some sound instruments woven in, depending on each individual’s needs. Before a private tuning fork session, I encourage you to outline your top intentions for the work and I will select acupoints that support those intentions using the wisdom of your body’s energy meridians and chakras.

Q: What drew you to partner with the Austin Salt Room, and how do your offerings align with salt therapy?

Salt and sound therapy are both ancient practices and naturally compliment each other so beautifully. The Austin Salt Room is already so peaceful and healing, when you add other healing modalities on top of that, it creates a truly transformative experience. The space is really special and it has most to do with the exceptional spirit behind its magic, the mother of it, Isabel.

Q: What are some common experiences or transformations people share after your sessions?

People’s experiences can be different each time they receive sound, depending on what their frequency is, or what they’ve been experiencing lately. Some people report seeing vibrant colors and visualizations, some people are transported back to a memory in time which evokes strong emotion, some create the ending to the novel they are writing, or the solution to a creative endeavor that they are working on. If brainwave entrainment occurs during your sessions, it’s possible for your brain to go into a more relaxed state, like the theta brainwave state which is in between your awake and dream worlds. This state often helps us tap into our intuition, creativity, and problem solving. It’s a magical place to be!

Q: Can you describe what a typical tuning fork session looks like?

During a tuning fork session, you will relax on the massage table while I treat several acupoints on your body with calibrated tuning forks. You can also expect a unique blend of energy clearing rituals and the use of other sound tools near your body. In addition, I may also incorporate movement, breath, meditation, and other wellness modalities.

Q: How can someone book a private session with you, and what times are you available?

You can explore my offerings on my website at pranawithjarin.com. I facilitate public sound baths at the Austin Salt Room on Sunday mornings at 10:00am. You can book a private session online with the link/button below! I have appointments at the Austin Salt Room on Thursday and Fridays at 1:30pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 5:00pm and 6:00pm.

Q: What advice would you give someone curious about sound healing but unsure where to start?

I would say that curiosity brought you here to read this- and that is the first step to trying something new that could be path altering. :)

Bonus Fun Questions

  • What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?

Nothing feels like deeper medicine to me than warming time in the sunshine or sauna to replenish my yang energy. It’s a craving that comes from a place of ancient wisdom, soul-level intuition, and biology. It is so comforting to me!

  • If you could travel anywhere in the world for a wellness retreat, where would you go?

I am always drawn to the ocean. The sea is a place that I gather great grounding and healing energy.

  • What’s one wellness practice you can’t live without?

I think intentional movement is one of our simplest and most accessible forms of wellness- anywhere and anytime! It helps to move prana, blood, emotions, the lymphatic system, contributes to brain health, nervous system regulation, and so much more…
